Welcome to Year 10!

Year 10 is the middle year; you are no longer new to GCSE studies, but you are still a year away from your exams.  However, it is a crucial year, as you will discover your teachers are expecting more from you this year and you need to take a much greater responsibility for your own learning. The good news is that you are studying the subjects that you have chosen and this should be making school even more enjoyable.

You are a creative, ambitious and talented group of young people, who are committed to working hard.  I am looking forward to not only the year ahead, but also working with you throughout your time here at Manor, so that we are able to serve each other, grow together and live life to the full.

With a new year also comes new possibilities, so don’t forget that there’s more to school than lessons! I hope that all of you will find an extracurricular club to suit you. We have some wonderful musicians, actors, cooks, artists and sportsmen/women in the year and it’s important that you have some fun and find new friendships through the opportunities on offer.

Anyone who comes into my classroom will see a poster that has a famous Mark Twain quote on it ‘ Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.Make sure that you make the most of Year 10, so that you can look back and be proud and happy with all that you have achieved, both academically, and personally.

Let’s make it a great year!
