Collective worship

Manor CE Academy has a daily act of worship for all students including assemblies, Eucharist services, form collective worship, form prayers and times of musical worship.

There is a staff prayer meeting every Thursday before school when we meet to pray for our Academy and the wider community. Beginning in September 2013 we also have a new pastoral chaplaincy team to support our students further as they explore their faith. In addition to staff-led activities, a number of our students meet together regularly to worship God.

Our three values of serving others, growing together and living life to the full are at the centre of everything we do and in our acts of worship, these are well and truly put into practice.

We also have a student Worship Band Ministry called W1. The band rehearses together every Friday lunchtime from 12.45pm in the Chapel. W1 serves our school community by leading times of musical worship and often visits churches in York to provide worship and testimony. During the Easter break next year, 11 members of W1 will travel to Georgia and Alabama to live out our values and serve God in a variety of different communities. They will also share their experiences of leading worship so far, and how serving God at Manor has had a positive effect on their own lives.

To make a donation to help support their work and their trip in 2014, you can send a cheque payable to “MCE Academy Trust” addressed to the Finance Office at the Academy, clearly marked as a donation to the W1 Worship Band Fundraising.

The Worship@Manor team produces a weekly collective worship film for our online video channel at www.vimeo.com/manorworship. These films support our worship and Bible understanding. They are used in other schools across our region and in the last 12 months, the video channel has had an audience of over 7,000 people in 35 countries around the world.
