Two hundred years of Manor Church of England School, York is a hard-backed, A4 full colour book, commemorating two centuries of Manor. Using pictures and documents from the school records, we chart the history of the school, from the humblest of beginnings to today's state-of-the-art academy.
We've also tracked down former students, some in their nineties, who share their schoolday memories in a special 'My Manor' section.
During the second world war Manor was bombed out of one of its sites: read how its young people had to share already cramped space, before new premises could be found.
Few, if any, schools can claim to have had six separate sites and yet provided continuous education over such a long period of time.
This book reveals fascinating insights into the way education has changed and offers rare glimpses into the many lives shaped from the values by which today's Manor CE Academy continues to be run.
It is available directly from reception at a price of £10.
